The Greener Laundry Service

In 2016 The Linen Group made a commitment to provide a more environmentally friendly laundry service. This required a huge investment into the latest Laundry equipment from batch-washers to ironers, to the implementation of RFID.  It also meant a review of the entire laundry process; from amount of stock on our customer’s shelves to the best route for our deliveries!   We run a green, lean, efficient laundry and this is reflected in The Linen Group’s charges to our customers.

Reduce, Re-use, Recycle

The Linen Group use continuous batch washers; which recover all of the rinse water in the machine and can be reused in the wash zones, pre-wash zones and wetting out section. This means nearly 100% of the fresh water entering the machine is recycled and used elsewhere for washing.  This saves water, energy and chemicals as residue chemicals are reused and the recycled water will be hotter than the fresh incoming water.

Lower Rejection Rates

Because of the machinery and the eco-friendly processes that The Linen Group have developed we are proud to offer a linen service with rejection rates of less than 1%!  This is important as rejected linen means wasted delivery, wasted energy, wasted laundry and wasted money.  Some larger laundries have reject rates of nearly 40% this wasted resource is not only harmful to the environment but it is also harmful to overheads!   The Linen Group are able to offer a greener, cheaper laundry service because of our respect of resources!

Change of process

We actively look at ways to improve on our environmental performance. Our sustainability isn’t a list of promises it is effective day-to-day action.  From our Laundry operatives changing each the wash settings of each load to our Driver App that plots the most efficient delivery route.  The Linen Group respect resources through every aspect of the Linen Cycle.
